RUSSIAN Russian warships display military might in joint drills with China in the far-east of Russia. Military units from 15 countries are taking part in the drills, with China being second largest contributor after Russia. India, Syria and Algeria joined counterparts from Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Central Asian nations and Laos. A naval component to the exercises was underway on Thursday in the northern part of the Sea of Japan, Russia's defence ministry reported. Russia has claimed that 50,000 troops will take part in the exercise, although it is unlikely that more than 15,000 personnel will be involved this year, Britain's defence ministry said.
