Putin visits Crimea on annexation anniversary as he faces ICC arrest warrant

Nine years ago, Russia annexed the peninsula of Crimea from Ukraine and on Saturday, Russian President Vladimir Putin made a surprise visit to the region to celebrate the anniversary. It comes one day after the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for the Russian leader, accusing him of war crimes. It specifically accused him of bearing personal responsibility for the abductions of children from Ukraine during Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine.
