Mississippi tornadoes: Rescue efforts continue as death toll expected to rise

Powerful tornadoes tore through several towns in Mississippi on Friday night, leaving a path of destruction that spanned 160 kilometres. At least 23 people have been reported dead so far and officials fear the death toll could climb even further. The storm uprooted trees, downed power lines and destroyed homes and buildings across the state. “We had the tornado sirens going off warning people to take cover. It happened so fast,” Humphreys County Sheriff Bruce Williams said. Mississippi was at the centre of the destruction, but the violent storm also battered Alabama and Tennessee. Brittany Rosen reports on the destruction and the desperate search to find those who may be trapped by the rubble.
