Holiday Home On The Atlantic Coast

Holiday Home On The Atlantic Coast

The Smith House project was implemented by MacKay-Lyons Sweetapple Architects in Kingsburg, Nova Scotia, Canada. The 258-square-meter holiday home is located on the Atlantic coast next to Shobac Farm, set up by the same architects. It consists of three pavilions and is built on a plot of land between the salt pond in the east and the picturesque oceanfront in the west. This small peninsula has historically supported a coastal fishing port. This project, together with neighboring buildings, forms a new image of the village. It was important for architects to not easily renew old fishing huts, but also to take into account the interests of the community while preserving the landscape. Between all the buildings there are numerous courtyards that create a microclimate, catch the sun and block the wind.
