Here Is How The Avengers Defeated Thanos In Comics But Can That Be Done In Movies

After Thanos killed half of all living beings in the universe, he went on to live in a small hut on some mysterious planet, enjoying a beautiful sunrise, just the way he had said he wanted to. While this is truly a heart-breaking ending and the first such instance in a Marvel Cinematic Universe film, we have Avengers 4 scheduled for next year. There is a lot riding on the next Avengers movie. It has to repair the damage caused by Infinity War and also be careful about not being an across the board reset movie which makes fans feel that Avengers: Infinity War was a meaningless movie. But, we know one thing for sure, how Thanos was beaten by Avengers in the comic books.

Find out below how The Avengers beat Thanos in the comics and if that could be repeated in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

The Comic Way:

Let’s revisit “The Infinity Gauntlet” series from 1991, written by Jim Starlin. The story of the comic series was something like this.

The main reason why Thanos was after the Infinity Stones was due to his desire to impress Lady Death by murdering half of the life from the Universe and restoring a balance. There was no battle between The Avengers and Thanos and definitely no Infinity War. Thanos got the Stones (called Gems in the comic books) and finished his mission.

The story then dealt with the survivors like Adam Warlock, Silver Surfer, Nebula, Captain America, Doctor Strange and other characters who join hands to reverse the damage. Nebula succeeded in getting the Gauntlet off Thanos’ hand and wielded it herself. Thanos convinced her to turn the time back and go back to the point where he had not yet got the gauntlet, and in the chaos that follows, Adam Warlock snatched the Gauntlet, and Thanos ended up as a farmer on a mysterious planet after his defeat.

Why It is not possible in the MCU

Why can the same thing not be done in the MCU? While Disney is now the owner of Fos as well as Marvel, we are unlikely to see the Silver Surfer in Avengers 4. Adam Warlock can also make his MCU debut only in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 at the earliest. At least, that is how the plans are until now. Nebula is there, but, Doctor Strange is dead. Therefore, the chances of Nebula wielding the gauntlet in Avengers 4 are not ruled out, but, the ending won’t be like what we see in the comic books. That is certain. We are also not looking forward to seeing Josh Brolin live the rest of his life as a farmer on an unknown planet. That is absolutely unfair.
