Minamisoma, Japan was hit hard by the 2011 earthquake and tsunami. The building of the fire service was also damaged and in need of restoration. The new Minamisoma fire station was designed by Tetsuo Kobori Architects with the expectation that it will give residents of the city a hope for a bright and safe future, in which the building will play an important role in terms of fighting fires, preventing natural disasters, as well as in the educational base.
