7 Crazy Scenes That Were Deleted From Avengers: Infinity War And Other Marvel Movies

For the long-term comic book loves, the contemporary superhero movies is akin to being a kid in a toy shop. They have so many amazing things all around them, and it is becoming difficult to even keep track of things. There are comic book characters that we never expected to see on the big screen, but they have now become icons.

For example Avengers: Infinity War featured four key deleted scenes that were featured in the Blu-ray version of the movie. These are scenes that give more depth to the movie. In fact, there are some characters that got completely chopped out of various MCU movies, and those include even a Stan Lee cameo.

Haunting past of Gamora

The last deleted scene from Avengers: Infinity War featured the Mad Titan and Gamora. Thanos used the Infinity Stones to show a flashback to Gamora, and back then Gamora was much younger and a voluntary member of Thanos’ army. She is seen holding the severed head of a defeated king.

Thanos then tells her why he tasked her with the discovery of the Soul Stone and why he felt betrayed when she tried hiding the location of the Stone despite knowing it. The scene added another layer to the nature of their relationship before her death.

Removing Valkyrie’s past

Valkyrie debuted in Thor: Ragnarok. The film’s director Taika Waititi and the actress playing Valkyrie aka Tessa Thompson wanted to depict the fact that Valkyrie was attracted towards both boys and girls equally, in the film.

They had gone on to the extent of shooting a sequence where we a lady emerging from Valkyrie’s quarters on Battleworld. The scene was deleted from the movie. Thompson later stated, “There were things that we talked about that we allowed to exist in the characterisation, but maybe not be explicit in the film.” Thompson, as well as the director, observed that maybe one of her fellow Valkyries from the flashback scene might have been her lover.

Domestic problems

This was a deleted scene from Spider-Man; Homecoming where Adrian Toomes is seen at his warehouse, upset about Spider-Man stopping him from acquiring the parts that he sought to create new alien-tech based weapons. That is when he got a call from his wife who asked him to take care of their water heater.

They had a brief talk, and after the call is disconnected, you can see how he became even more upset with this, and he sends a shelf tumbling in an angry outburst. The scene gave a more human touch to Toomes.

Succeeded in avoiding Ant-Man plot  hole

Here is a weird deleted scene that made to this list because its removal led to a plot-hole in the movie. The thing is, during the Ant-Man movie, Darren Cross sells off the size-altering Pym Particles created by Hank Pym to the biggest bidder who turns out to be an agent of Hydra.

In the cinematic cut of the movie, the agent is shown to escape with the Pym Particles, and he is never seen again. Towards the end of the movie, there was a scene that got deleted. It had shown Scott Lang capture him and recover the stolen Pym Particles. This scene was replaced with Captain America: Civil War’s preview scene.

Quicksilver didn’t die

In the 2015 movie, Avengers: Age of Ultron, Joss Whedon often argued with the Marvel Studios producers about whether he was allowed to show Quicksilver give up his life in the movie or not. While Whedon wanted this to happen, the producers were not willing to lose an Avenger.

This compelled Whedon to create a scene where Quicksilver somehow survives the apparently deadly hit, he received in the film. It is shown that the scene was never really deleted because Whedon didn’t let this scene be a part of the movie anyway.

Providing a ray of hope

Towards the end of Thor, the God of Thunder seemed to have lost his connection to Earth when he was in Asgard and the Bifrost Bridge that connected the two worlds was destroyed.

There was a deleted scene that was supposed to be a part of the movie’s ending, and it showed Jane Foster and her colleagues trying to create a beacon that would have directed Thor to Earth. Eric Selvig also tried creating a wormhole to get Thor back. He worked in tandem with S.W.O.R.D., and that would have been the first time we saw the alien handling division of S.H.I.E.L.D.

References to the Black Widow’s origins

The main trouble towards the end of Captain America: Winter Soldier was the release of the great deal of information that S.H.I.E.L.D. has gathered on Hydra to reveal to the world Hydra’s takeover of the iconic intelligence agency. Natasha Romanoff was once a proud operative of the S.H.I.E.L.D., and she oversaw the release of the details.

Although she had cornered Alexander Pierce, the traitor who orchestrated it all, he asked her whether she was really keen to reveal everything because that might have meant the revelation of her past too. That would have revealed about the events of Budapest, Osaka and the Children’s Ward. Natasha is clearly rattled upon hearing that.
