5 Reasons Why Jane Foster Must Become MCU’s Goddess Of Thunder

Last year, Marvel Comics put its focus on legacy and came out with the Marvel Legacy campaign which connected the past and present of the iconic heroes in the vast Marvel mythos. The Marvel Cinematic Universe is also approaching a similar situation by featuring the transition of heroes. What began with Iron-Man in 2008 has now reached the biggest turning point in Avengers: Infinity War and the transition will be complete in next year’s Avengers 4. One of the biggest changes that excite the fans is Jane Foster’s prospects of becoming the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Goddess of Thunder.

So far the character has been very limited, and Natalie Portman played Thor’s lover in Thor and Thor: The Dark World. Now, the time has come that Jane Foster should become next Thor, and here we list five reasons why.

Use the weapons more

While playing Thor in the comics, Jane used Mjolnir in various ways in the battle. It is as if Jane has some sort of connection with the hammer, beyond being worthy of it. In Mighty Thor, Jane hurled the hammer in zigzagging attacks, and also made it float in the middle of a room and unleash lightning bolts at various potential enemies.

While it is upon the director to make changes in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but, Thor has hardly made his weapons do anything more than hurling them in a straight line or to fly. Jane Foster is different courtesy of her uses of Mjolnir, and such a thing would be fantastic on the big screen.

Keep The Thor Legacy going

The end is coming for the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s current phase, and character revamps, actor changes, etc. are going to take place after Avengers 4, to ensure the continuation of the narrative. While we don’t rule out Chris Hemsworth continuing to play Thor for another decade or more, it is not assured. There is a belief that Thor and The Avengers would do well to retain the same cast playing the roles for a long time. Therefore, it would be a great idea to build Thor’s legacy in the MCU and will create a path for someone among Thor’s friends to take over after Jane Foster exits.

Establish the League of Realms

Thor: Ragnarok showed how the Marvel Cinematic Universe created a team up between Thor and the Hulk by picking up elements from “Planet Hulk” and “World War Hulk.” Despite it being only a speculation, it means that Thor won’t be dealing much with the League of Realms that was created by Jason Aaron and Esad Ribic in Thor: God of Thunder. This means that the League of Realms could be introduced by the all-new Jane Foster version of Thor. We would love to see it.

Challenges Odin

Until Thor: Ragnarok, it was Odin who decided how Thor lived and we saw how Thor occasionally used to overlook Odin’s orders. The reason why everyone followed Odin was probably due to his extremely long run as the king of Asgard. However, Jane has faced Odin’s rejection, and he has been creating hurdles in letting Jane and Thor’s romance blossom, especially in the initial Thor comics. Jane is not afraid of Odin, and the two characters had a lot of hostility.

Loki can’t trick her again

Despite being extremely powerful, the MCU version of Thor (just like the comic books) is highly vulnerable to Loki’s tricks. Despite understanding the fact that Loki is a bad guy and always up to some trick or the other, Thor is unable to think clearly because of their brotherhood and his belief that Loki could be redeemed. Whenever Loki uttered “Help me, brother,” Thor always leaped to help him, even at the risk of getting stabbed in the back.

While we don’t know whether or how Loki will be back to MCU after having perished in Infinity War, but, Jane Foster wouldn’t be susceptible to his tricks in any case.
